Annecy, often nicknamed the “Venice of the Alps,” is a charming town in southeastern France, nestled on the northern tip of the stunning Lake Annecy. With its colorful houses lining canals, medieval castle overlooking the town, and surrounding mountains offering breathtaking views, Annecy is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike
Annecy is located in the Haute-Savoie department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. It is just around 35 km south of Geneva, around 247 km from Zürich, and perhaps around 154km from Bern Switzerland, making it an easy day trip from the city with Train or driving with car. There are many things to see and do in Annecy, such as :
- Exploring the Vieille Ville (old town) with its cobbled streets, canals, and pastel-colored houses
- Visiting the Château d’Annecy, a medieval castle that now houses a museum with regional artifacts.
- Taking a boat ride on Lake Annecy, known for its crystal-clear waters
- If like to to culinary, then many restaurant will serve many dishes from different type and different regions.
Annecy also known to have special events during spring which is similar to with an event from Venice-Italy. The event itself is called “The Annecy Venetian Carnival” which already held on 23-25 February 2024. The carnival serves as a window into the rich cultural heritage of Venice, showcasing its iconic masks and traditions in a unique Alpine setting. It’s also a celebration of creativity and self-expression, where participants don their masks and transform into new personas, leaving behind their everyday lives for a weekend of revelry.
