Fasnacht Solothurn 2024

Fasnacht Solothurn, also known as the Solothurn Carnival, is a lively and colorful traditional carnival celebration held annually in the city of Solothurn, Switzerland. Dating back several centuries, Fasnacht Solothurn is deeply rooted in local culture and folklore, offering residents and visitors alike a vibrant and festive experience

Fasnacht Solothurn is one of the largest and most popular carnivals in Switzerland, known for its satirical floats, elaborate costumes, and lively street festivities. It’s a wild and crazy celebration that takes place starting from 07.02.2024 until 14.02.2024

One of the most striking elements of Fasnacht Solothurn is the elaborate costumes and masks worn by participants. These costumes often feature intricate designs, bright colors, and imaginative themes. Masks play a significant role in the festivities, allowing participants to adopt different personas and characters during the carnival.

A major part of Fasnacht Solothurn are the Guggenmusiken, brass bands that play loud, humorous music throughout the streets. There are over 80 Guggenmusiken in Solothurn, each with their own unique costumes and instruments.

The main part of this event is called “The Umzüge” which is means the Carnaval or Parade. The carnival itself perform two time, Sunday carnival and Tuesday carnival and both are started at 02:30 PM. The unique of Tuesday carnival is mostly all shops in Main City Solothurn are closed.
